Course on Training of Trainers May 2007

The first message of a Blogspot; always the hardest. How to introduce, how to thank participants, how not to offend..... Anyway, this blog can be used for participants of the May 2007 MDF Training of Trainers Course as a tool for sharing of impressions, experiences and newly found skills. Hope this entry will be the first in many.

First of all, I would like to thank Han Verhoeven and Suzanne van Lieshout for conducting this course and sharing their wealth of experience with us participants. It was hard, but interesting and definitely entertaining. The course consisted of 5 intensive days of work, during which participants were familiarised with the Adult Learning Cycle and the Training Cycle as vehicles for programming and implementing effective training programmes for their respective organisations. It became obvious that many roads lead to Rome and that trainers can tap into a great pool of different methods and approaches; ranging from how to use visual aids, how to ensure participation of the target group, when to use what training method, etc. Gradually, knowledge, attitude and skills came together to formulate specific training designs, bearing in mind the individual SWOTs of the participants.

Obviously, not all elements could be discussed in detail, but the whole programme gave a solid basis for personal improvement of the participating trainers. It's up to us to hone or skills to relative perfection. And share our experiences with our co-trainers.

Let's not be strangers.
